TBF Avenger byl americký palubní torpédový lehký bombardér z období druhé světové války i z následujícího období. Byl nástupcem zastaralého letadla Douglas TBD Devastator. Na první pohled neforemné letadlo Avenger bylo spolehlivé a velmi houževnaté. Svůj bojový debut si odbylo v bitvě u Midway. Letouny se účastnily zejména bojů v Tichomoří, ale i jinde. Sloužily nejen v jednotkách US Navy, ale i v britských, australských a kanadských silách. Po druhé světové válce byly letouny prodávány do dalších zemí, kde sloužily až do šedesátých let.
Letoun zpočátku vyráběla mateřská firma, ale později většina strojů vzniká v licenci u firmy General Motors (automobilky se během války zapojily do rozsáhlého leteckého výrobního programu), která Avengery vyráběla jako TBM-1 a TBM-3 (poslední písmeno označovalo výrobce — F označovalo firmu Grumman, M firmu General Motors).
Byl to jednomotorový třímístný torpédový a bombardovací jednoplošník se záďovým zatahovacím podvozkem, určený ke službě na letadlových lodích.
